Passive Users

Passive user is the key term that I have chosen for week 7 which was the main aspect of design that we were learning about and implementing into our design. Based on Hill (2003,p. 87) stated, the users need use the space in a monoglossic way , it is means they just can using only the space in settled way which is designer intended. This week, we followed this theory, using “passive use” into our design. As you can see, there is just one door to connect the bedroom and living room, therefore , expect through this door, the users have no other way to go to the bedroom, thus that it is monoglossic and can only be used in one way, so the users are passive users . In figure two there is just one way to go to the reading room, similar as figure three, the users can just use the floor to go upstairs, they have no other choice. In our original design, we do not use so many boards to separate these spaces, in that case, users would be reactive instead of passive. We separate every space into different rooms, therefore, different rooms have different functions, when clients in same house, they can have their personal space and can prevent disturbed with each other, it is one of a good reasons for clients to choose this house for vacation.
